If you're an author and you'd like to publish your books for free as e-books, Feedbooks is perfectly suited for several reasons:

• No specific digital publishing skills required: it's designed for authors, you'll just have to understand a few basic concepts.
• Upload once: you'll just have to publish your work once, instead of struggling with the different e-book formats.

Getting Started

On the top menu of the website, click on Publish to start publishing a book.

If you'd like to edit a book that you've previously created go to Your Books.

Book Properties

Before the proper publishing process, you'll have to provide a few informations about it:

• Title
• Pen Name: if you don't provide a pen name, the default author for the book will be your username
• Description: one of the most important thing to do properly if you'd like to attract new readers
• Year: the year that you wrote your book
• Language: very important, if you provide an invalid language your book can be switched back to edit mode by an admin
• Categories: they enable users to discover and filter titles
• Tags: use multiple and meaningful tags

Editing

For most authors, we recommend using our Web Interface to edit the contents of your book. If you're a bit geekier, you can use our API.

Publishing

Once you're done editing your book, just press on publish in the Web interface and your book will be instantly available to everyone.

Keep in mind that you don't need to publish your book if you're editing through several sessions: your content will be saved. You can also edit your book again anytime you want, but make sure that you hit the publish button again, otherwise your content won't be available anymore.

Where can I download my book ?

Aside from the main website, any self-published books from Feedbooks can be accessed through:

Tips & Tricks

• A good presentation is important, a book with a nice looking cover, a good description and relevant categories/tags will attract much more potential readers.
• Promote your books as much as you can. Talk about it on your blog, e-mail your friends and family and get in touch with blogs/forums dedicated to digital reading.
• Digital publishing is different from traditional publishing, for example, short stories are much more suited for digital publishing.
• If you publish new stories, you'll get more downloads on your older materials too: we add links to what you previously published both on the website and in the e-books themselves.
